Free of charge does not mean no application. Both sites require contact before use according to city guidance.
These are two examples, not a complete Aomori list. Decide dates, party size and intended use before contacting the manager.
Shizen no Mori: apply at least three days ahead
Apply by telephone to the manager at least three days before use, between 13:00 and 18:00.
The usual season is May 4–November 20, subject to weather and maintenance. Overnight use is noon to 10:00 the next morning. Confirm your specific date.
Narawazudake: distinguish park and camping dates
The 2026 campsite season is April 18–November 29. These dates differ from the forest park season; read the campsite-specific section.
Apply to the information facility beforehand. Without an application, toilets are locked at 17:00. Listed amenities do not establish access throughout your visit.
Questions for the manager
Give your dates, party size and intended overnight use. Ask about reception, late arrival, water, waste and fire rules when the page does not answer them.
Narawazudake lists a cooking shelter, pizza oven and toilets. Confirm what equipment or fuel is supplied before packing.
Compare locations and return to the source
Use the Aomori list to compare locations, then check application deadlines and arrival times.
