These three Yurihonjo facilities are not all the free campsites in Akita. Reception, snow closures and access differ.
As checked on October 5, 2026, Oshimizu cannot be used because of a road closure. An older free-use listing does not establish current availability.

The listed season is late April–October 31; toilets close in winter. Check campground access separately from hiking plans.
Hottai is free and needs no application, without a resident manager. Take all waste away and do not make ground fires.
The city warns about rising river levels and lists a snow closure from late November to the end of April. Check current conditions.
The city reports subsidence and cracks found on September 7, 2026, before Teshiro Bridge. The road closure prevents use of Oshimizu, with no reopening date in the September 15 notice.
Normal free-use conditions remain lower on the page. Read current restrictions first; Oshimizu is not presently available.
